Venue Spotlight: Mainstreet Station, Richmond, Va

If there is one thing I love, its non-traditional wedding venues. I love when brides get married in library’s, backyards, museums, stations and gardens. When you chose a place that isn’t a typical wedding location, you are forced to think outside of the box with how you decorate, where you place the tables, where you plan on saying I do, etc. But, to me, that’s what makes wedding planning fun. Looking at a blank canvas and taking your colors,  style and personality and really turning that canvas into a masterpiece. This is one reason I’m absolutely obsessed with today’s venue spotlight; The Main Street station in Richmond, Va.

Although this old-fashioned train station has become a hot spot for brides to be in Va, there is something so absolutely fascinating about how each bride makes their wedding different from the next. This gorgeous train station, which opened for business in 1901, is still working, with trains arriving and departing every day. Although most brides primarily use this space for a reception, you can rent the station for a ceremony as well. The cost is quite reasonable, $1500 to rent for 4 hours on a Saturday. The station is situated right in downtown Richmond in the historic Shockoe Bottom district. Now, let’s take a tour of this regal venue.

Isn’t it breathtaking? I love the older architecture and the clock tower. But just wait, the inside is just as stunning.
