Wedding Wednesday Wonder: A Magnificent Cake

I saw this cake on today’s Cake and Picture’s Daily Destination and literally gasped out loud. It is one of the most intricate and gorgeous cakes I have ever seen. If this was my wedding cake, I’d have it on display the whole night and serve sheet cake from the back. You’ll understand once you see it. I’d be hard pressed to find a more beautiful cake! Be sure to check out Kathleen and Chris’s Scotland nuptials as well. You’ll be saying ‘I do’ to Scotland in no time! Photos are courtesy of Craig & Eva Sanders Photography.

Aren’t these details immaculate?

Gorgeous Cakes that are too Pretty to Eat!

These cakes are too beautiful to even think about eating. I am drooling at how magnificently decorated and detailed they are. Just as my friend Angela from Swatchbook Weddings said a few days ago, cakes like these are pretty enough to wear!

Marvelous Monday: Cake Toppers

Cake toppers used to be a thing of the past; something you’d see in wedding photos from the 50’s and 60’s. However, now with the re-surging popularity of all things vintage and brides desiring to bring their personalities and funk to their cakes, cake toppers have made a strong come-back! Don’t worry, these aren’t your ‘mother’s’ cake toppers. The ones that are showing up in weddings this day in age have a modern, romantic, funny and whimsical flavor to them!

Fabulous [Foodie] Friday

Happy Friday! Oh how I thought this day would never come. I wanted to showcase my love for this day by featuring a few of my FAVORITE finds today. As a warning, these delicious finds are all food/sweet related and may give you a hankering for some delectable  hors d’oeuvres and tasty cupcakes. I apologize in advance. [Not really, if I’m going down into a sugar/food coma, I’m taking you all with me!]

Have your cake & Eat it too!

One of my favorite parts of wedding planning, thus far, has been picking out our menu and sifting through thousands of cake designs. I’m not going to lie, I’m a fan of food and food will be a very big part of my very big day! Although there are so many really cool cake designs and flavors out there, I’ve found a *few * that actually leave me speechless. [And those who know me well know that is not an easy thing to do!] It’s just amazing how some bakers can create such a truely remarkable piece of edible art! [Please note, the colors below are not the colors that will be in my cake. Just purely design]

Three-tiered square wedding cake accented with funky green tiling and oversized green flowers.

Four-tiered white fondant wedding cake covered with green sugar-made leaves.

The non-traditional cake took an architectural, column shape and featured black flowering branches on a white background, a design characteristic of the fin de siecle era.

Each of the cake’s three tiers was topped with rich green orchids. Inside were layers of strawberry cream cake and haupia, a traditional Hawaiian coconut-flavored dessert.

Meg and Jim’s three-tiered, white fondant-frosted cake was decorated with brown fondant floral cutouts. The chocolate and raspberry confection sat atop a milk-glass cake stand, which the couple had bought on eBay.

This three-tiered round cake is covered in pale pink fondant and adorned with long green fondant stems, gum paste hot pink ranunculus, and tiny butterflies. Photo By: James Worrell

I’m getting hungry just looking at them!
