I know I’m not the only girl in the world who is utterly obsessed with The Great Gatsby. I first read the book while I was in high school and of course, like every misguided and angsty 16-year-old, did not fully appreciate it for the literary genius that it is. Now, as I’m older and much wiser, I read the novel and am moved, sometimes to tears, with the incredible symbolism and the inherent sadness of the characters. You can’t help but relate a little to Nick’s devotion and Gatsby’s extravagance. Along with the incredible writing, I’m also quite obsessed with the 20’s, so the setting and theme of the novel also keeps me incredibly intrigued. To pay homage to this fabulous book (and even more fabulous era) I created an inspiration board dripping with regale colors, 20’s fashion and glittering jewels.

Who said your favorite book couldn’t serve as the inspiration for your whole day?
Remember how I was dead set on having a birdcage veil to change into for my reception? Well, I’ve sort of changed my mind. Surprise, surprise! At 2 months before my wedding, I’m trying NOT to have second thoughts about anything, but, as I imagine my perfect, fairytale wedding look, a birdcage veil just doesn’t fit anymore. Instead, I’m getting a glamorous and glitzy headpiece to rock once the party starts! I love birdcage veils, don’t get me wrong, I just think after wearing a veil for the better part of the morning, I’ll be over it. So I found some vintage and super chic sparkly head pieces that will provide just the right amount of sparkle and pizzazz to my fabulous hair do! All found on Etsy.

So, I’m taking a big leap on Tuesday and I’m absolutely STOKED. I’m going dark…with my hair, of course! I know it’s a big gamble to dye my hair darker 2 months before the wedding, but I’ve put a lot of thought into this. I just love the way I look with dark hair! My favorite feature is my bright green eyes and when I have darker hair, they just pop! I’m not saying they don’t shine with blonde or dirty blonde hair, they are just more pronounced when I have my hair darker. I’m also a HUGE fan of dark hair/light eyes/red lips, which is the big look I’m going for on March 25th!
My inspired look:
Freaking gorgeous, right?? I’m so excited on this next big step. What are your thoughts?
Ya’ll remember how I created an inspiration board for my bridal look? Well, I’ve decided to do an inspiration board for the decor look! Honestly, she is the best in the business! Well, thanks to her help, we’ve outlined the most gorgeous, vintage and glamorous wedding and I’m DYING with excitement to see it come to life on March 25th!
