Friday’s Fab Finds: Family Style Reception Tables

Happy Friday!! Since I now “work” from home, Friday doesn’t carry the same allure it once did. Don’t get me wrong, I love the weekends though. I love spending time with the husband & friends. Plus, it’s the only time I get to spend by the pool (I mooch off my lucky pool friends). Besides hiking, I’m not sure whats on deck this weekend. But those are always my favorite kind of weekends, esp. after the busy one we had in Charleston for the 4th!

Onto the topic at hand, family style reception tables. I absolutely love these set ups because they feel so homey, so comfortable. Plus, they make the seating chart debacle just a little easier to manage! Our main reception room was a “mini” mockup of the long table look (see below). Because of the set up of the mansion, we couldn’t swing full family style tables.

The rooms were STUNNING. But I can’t help but imagine what I could have done, decor wise, if we could have used a more family style set up. You can really play with the centerpieces. Instead of one big centerpiece on each table, you can have several clusters of vases, jars and flowers along the whole table. Paired with candles, luminaries and chandeliers, this look is absolutely dreamy.

Along the more rustic, vintage chic trend, I absolutely love when brides choose NOT to drape these long tables with linens. Instead, they use place mats under the centerpieces and other covers, like patterned runners, to add some more character. Who said you had to use linens? Not only will the table look more authentic, you’ll save some change!

You seriously can’t go wrong with this type of seating. Plus, you can really get creative with how you decorate! I love how Allison, of Engaged & Inspired, created a one of a kind look with her reception tables using book pages and mason jars!

I’m absolutely gushing over this idea. So I must ask, what are your thoughts? Brides, would you use a family style set up at your wedding? Pros, do you prefer this type of seating?

Wednesday Wedding Wonders: Olive & Cocoa

I’m scoring some pretty sweet new catalouges in my mail lately.

As you’ll recall, the home good gods surprised me with a subscription to Garnet and Hill, which got my house decorating juices flowing. As I was prancing around my one bedroom home this weekend, measuring walls for paintings and carpet for rugs, I stumbled upon a little gem I must have overlooked in last week’s mail, a catalog for the Salt Lake City boutique Olive and Cocoa. After just a few moments of flipping through it, I immediately fell in love. This catalog? It’s where it’s at friends, especially if you are looking for some fabulous decor pieces for your wedding.

How beautiful would these Glaçon trees be at the entrance to your reception? Or placed around the dance floor/bar? And that’s not all, guys. Olive and Cocoa has more fabulously rustic decor pieces like these, as well as other fabulous centerpieces, favors and gift ideas, jewelry, table top accessories and food. Yep, they even have delicious food. I’m all about the one stop shopping, especially when it comes to wedding decor and accessory shopping. Why pay to ship from multiple stores when there is just one that has everything you need? Enough gabbing, here are my favorite O & C pieces. How would you use them for your wedding?

2 Months to Go…

2 months until I’m a BRIDE! [via]

Tuesday kicked off the 2 month countdown to the big day, and boy, am I ready! I’m at the point in my planning where all that’s left are the boring, essential little details I’ve put off. As you remember, I had a bit of a shuttle issue earlier, but I’m happy to report that has been resolved! We found a company that will rent out sprinter vans and charge us ONLY for the hours we need it! A radical concept, I know 🙂 We also found a fabulous limo company that is giving us a wonderful deal to cart the lovely bridal party in style around Charleston to take photos! However, now we must tackle the seating chart, the accommodations and the welcome bags. Not horrible tasks, but daunting ones none the less. So isntead of boring ya’ll with those, I’m showcasing some more decor, venue and look inspiration boards! Oh and keep your eyes peeled, I’m going to be posting pictures of our invites AND venue soon!

Weekend Fab Finds: Pottery Barn’s Under $25

I want my life to emulate the Pottery Barn holiday catalog. Don’t you? [Via]

Tis the season to be…budget friendly! Fa la la la la la la la! 🙂 With my wedding less than 4 months away, I’m left with a smaller than usual holiday gift budget. However, that doesn’t mean I still can’t get my family and friends some amazing gifts! Thanks to my good friend Annie, I stumbled upon Pottery Barn’s under $25 and I’m wowed by the selection! Usually with prices this cheap, the quality is the first thing that is compromised. However, with all of Pottery Barn’s merchandise, these gifts reflect the same artisan crafting and quality to be expected from even their highest cost items! Oh, and these gifts are not only perfect for the holidays. Brides, some of these pieces would be gorgeous as accessories and decor for your big day! Why spend a ton on a mini dessert stand when you can get one for less than $30? Happy shopping!
