Happy New Years!

Happy New Years Eve! When I think of New Years, I think of sequins, sparkles, fancy party frocks, lace, champagne, romantic kisses at midnight and delicious party appetizers! This year, I’m going out with some of my best friends to a big NYE party in Bethesda. Although I’m not feeling 100%, I’m still going out! What are your plans? Either way, make sure to spend the night with the ones you love!

Happy New Years!

Thursday Purseday Designer Spotlight: Burberry

I want to live in this ad, what about you? [Photo via]

The iconic checkered brown, white and red. Burberry is a classic, a brand that will never go out of style or fade from the fashion magazines. There’s something so timeless about a Burberry scarf, bag or trench. As much as I love timeless looks, they can sometimes seem so drab to me. The same look, same design, year after year. It can get so ordinary. However, as I’ve peeped the selection of Burberry handbags at Neiman Marcus, I’m excited to see fresh new takes on the standard plaid. The addition of studs, colors and patent leather turn these bags from typical to trendy!

Studded Hobo

Feathered Osprey Shoulder Bag

Barbed Wire Check Tote

Mega Stud Check Hobo

and the finale…

Burberry Heart Studded Satchel
What I really love about this bag is the color and studs. Usually with heart embellishment, bags [or anything] can look REALLY juvenile. This bag takes the heart look and matures it with a rich brown color and studding!

Marvelous Monday: Gifts for Your Groom

Treat your groom like the king that he is with a snazzy present on your wedding day! [Photo via]

I hope you all had a wonderful holiday! It’s so nice to take some time off from the “real world” and have fun with family and friends you don’t see often. I don’t know about you, but the last thing I want to do is sit on a computer when I could be drinking, eating and laughing with my amazing family! So that explains my lack of updates, but I’m back in action this week so stay tuned for some fantastic updates. With less than 3 months to the wire, I will be spending a lot of time on here trying to piece together the rest of my wedding!

With that being said, it’s time to focus on the most important person in the wedding [next to you, of course]…your future hubby to be! When you deconstruct the day, the most important pieces of it should be you and your husband and the vow you took to spend the rest of your lives together. And after all the stress, the melt downs, the extreme diets and the little fights, it’s time to reward your hubby for his patience, understanding and ability to agree with every single thing you said. I don’t know about you, but my fiancée has been such a trooper through everything and he deserves the WORLD. Well, since the world is a bit out of budget, I have something else lined up for him 🙂 Since I do believe in some secrecy, I’m not going to share, instead I am showcasing some other fabulous gifts for your hubby to be!

My fiancée is a serious nerd. I don’t mean that in a bad or demeaning way, it’s just who he is. He LOVES gadgets, gizmos and electronics. His father is the same way so I don’t blame him. I actually find it kind of cute, the way he lights up when he gets something gadgety. These are some perfect gifts for your gadget savvy [nerdy] husband like mine!

A Very Merry & Magical Christmas Part 2: A Vintage Holiday

Happy week of Christmas! I’m so excited to share part 2 of the merry and magical Christmas photo shoots! Remember the modern masterpiece created by Brancoprata? This next series of photos are more vintage, creating a gorgeous Christmas spread with antique pieces and rustic charm. This shoot was done by the amazingly talented Kristi Delfino of Luna and Chloe Weddings. Kristi is known for her one of a kind DIY projects and turning ordinary into extraordinary. She has such a unique and beautiful vision and anything she touches turns to gold, this shoot being no exception. The accessories, the crisp white theme with a hint of green and the glamorous and sparkly touches make this vintage Christmas one fit for a magazine or a royal household. Amazing work Kristi! Thank you again to Brancoprata and Luna and Chloe Weddings for turning this simple idea into something outstanding. Have a very magical Christmas, whether it is modern, vintage, traditional or untraditional!

I went with a white vintage Christmas and added a bit of glam by dressing up the bases and using glittered paper as a backdrop for the dessert labels.  To me, faux snow is always vintage!  I remember my grandma using it.  Also what’s more Xmas than poinsettias in white with a hint of sparkle? The centerpiece is made up of tree branches painted white with white lights and adorned with poinsettia flowers.

The reindeer were originally gold, but I gave them a new look by painting them white and adding a poinsettia.

Of course I had to dress up the mantle too.  With a small Xmas tree and an apothecary jar filled with snow and some chartreuse apples.

A Very Merry and Magical Christmas

Seasons Greetings! I can’t believe it’s already December 17th! I also can’t believe I was able to hide what I’m about to showcase for 2 months! I’ve been bursting at the seams! Well, the time is here and as the snowflakes dance outside my window, I couldn’t imagine a better moment to share what I’ve been cooking up.

At the end of October, after seeing an endless series of AMAZING holiday photo shoots, I got an idea. A big idea that I knew I needed help to execute. That’s where Sofia & Andre from Brancoprata and Kristi from Luna and Chloe Weddings came in. My idea? Why, the very namesake of this article. I had an idea to create a very merry and magical Christmas photo shoot and I wanted Sofia & Kristi to take a spin at creating two gorgeous, but different, recreations of this simple and broad idea.  I gave them a few suggestions to get them started then let the artists free to create what is, surely, the most gorgeous Christmas shoots ever.

One post surely can not handle the magnitude of perfection that is both of their shoots, so I am splitting them up. Today, I will feature Sofia and Andre’s modern and clean Christmas look, full of sophisticated details, fresh new colors and a dash of sparkle. So without further ado, I bring you the amazing shoot by Sofia and Andre, and a few words from them about their inspiration.

Hi everybody, we are so happy to share our little Christmas inspiration here on A Realistic Wedding! This year we decided to do something with a modern clean look! We wanted to use a color scheme that had a Christmas feeling about it, but at the same time a different twist, that is why we decided to use red, silver and pink! Our main inspiration was “Love, Live, Christmas!” and we choose a small dinner with the family, some nice wrapped presents and some sweets for desert!

Thursday Purseday: Bargain Bags

I’m slightly ashamed to admit this. My wedding? It’s draining my bank account! But my tastes have not changed, of course. Caviar taste on a beer budget is what they call my current predicament. And as much as I love staring at gorgeous Valentino, Louis Vuitton and Prada handbags each week, the longing and obsession is getting out of hand. It’s like when you go window shopping without any money. You find so many things you want but can’t buy them and it’s kind of disheartening! So today I’m sharing some budget bags that are so cute, people will think they cost a fortune! All bags can be found at Forever 21.
