Beach Photo Shoot by Bubblerock Studios

I’m beyond thrilled to bring you this gorgeous New Zealand beach photo shoot. For one, I love beaches. As I stare outside my office window at a brick wall, I long for a view of the sandy beach and salty ocean. Secondly, it’s by Steph Killip. This girl amazes me beyond comprehension. She is loving, kind, caring, gorgeous, silly, compassionate, sympathetic and talented. Not to mention philanthropic, as the proceeds from this shoot were donated to the Red Cross for relief from the devastating earthquake that rocked New Zealand in February. The shoot was taken on a serene beach in the inner city on a beautiful and calm Friday.

After we had the earthquake in New Zealand at the end of February, I donated 2-hour sessions for any value over $100.  Murihau chose to have her session by the beach.

Bargain Honeymoon Finds by Annie of Marry You Me

I’m speechless when it comes to Annie because she has been of the best friends a girl could ask for. We “met” through Twitter and she instantly become someone I can rely on for advice, support and true friendship. She’s been there for me through my many melt downs and I’m so thankful for her friendship. Annie, you are amazing and thank you so much for posting while I’m in panic prep mode!

Hi Realistic Wedding readers! I’m Annie from Marry You Me and I’m so thrilled to be posting here for my dear friend Claire while she is off on her honeymoon in Turks & Caicos! Sticking with the honeymoon theme I put together a little roundup of some of my favorite {bargain} honeymoon must-haves… Hope you enjoy it!
  1. This had to be my #1 pick – a fabulous sun hat. Your skin will thank you, and you’ll look ultra glam. Hat, Forever 21
  2. A cute (and cheap) ruffled sandal for when you want to skip the flip flops. Ruffle sandal, Target $14.99 3. When on vacation in a tropical locale, its nice to go minimal on the makeup.
  3. A tinted lip balm with sunscreen is a must-have! TInted lip balm with SPF 15+ sunscreen, Mary Kay $13
  4. Skip the blow dryer and curling iron and opt for a wave spray for that sexy beachy tousled wavy look. A bonus? It has a built-in sunscreen to protect hair color and your scalp. Fekkai Marine Summer Hair Beach Waves spray, Nordstrom.com, $24
  5. More suncare! (Noticing a theme here? 🙂 A facial sunscreen and a body sunscreen in SPF 30+ are honeymoon must-haves. Take it from me, nothing is more of a romance buster on your honeymoon than a horrible sunburn – because who wants to get touched when they feel like a cooked lobster? Re-apply every two hours (more if you are in and out of the water). I like Clinique’s line of sunscreens by skin type, in face and body formulas. Clinique ‘Sun’ sunscreens, Nordstrom.com, $18-21
  6. Now that you’re all suncreened up, time to throw on a cute bikini and hit the pool or beach. I love the adorably sexy and affordable options from Gilly Hicks. ‘McHanons Point’ push-up bikini, Gilly Hicks, $34.50 and $19.50
  7. A bag that can go from poolside to town without missing a beat or requiring a purse switch is an absolute must. I love this nautical inspired option from Forever21. Nautical Striped Straw Tote, Forever21, $12.80
  8. Cute, cheap sunglasses are the best. You can lose them without hating yourself and look like you spent more on them. Sunglasses, Forever21, $5.80
  9. Back to the sun care front, should you get burnt (hey, it happens!) apply an after sun lotion to minimize the painful sunburn effects. Clinique ‘After Sun’ Lotion with Aloe, Nordstrom.com, $21

Some of my other must haves? A fabulous sun dress that can take you from day to night with just a switch of accessories, a stack of cheap bangles from Forever21, some travel games or cards for when you get bored or if it rains for days (it happens!), some warmer clothes in case its colder than you anticipated, and a camera to take lots of pictures with!

Fabulous Fashion Picks for Your Honeymoon by Naomi of Enchanted Dream Weddings and Affairs

Naomi has been one of my truest friends for a while. She is always there, no matter what, to support me, offer me advice and stand by my side. It’s hard to find true people in the world and I’m lucky to have one to call my friend. Thank you Naomi for standing by my side, no matter what, and for inspiring me every single day! Thank you for guest posting on the biggest day of my life!

It is Claire’s wedding day and I’m so happy for her and honored that she asked me to guest post the day of her wedding! Claire was one of the first people on Twitter to reach out to me and ever since then we’ve exchanged laughs, a few of life’s frustrations, and a nice friendship. Claire is one of the sweetest people I have “met” on Twitter. I know when we do meet it will be a big giggle fest filled with hugs and lots of catching up!

Knowing Claire’s love for fashion, and that she will be going on her honeymoon very soon I decided to create a post on what to pack for three different honeymoon locales along with a few tips. It was fun creating these and I hope you like them, too!

Shop & See

When packing for an extended trip, pick a color scheme that can be worn with the different pieces you pack. For example, the trench coat can be worn with the skirt, white blouse, and boots. The same skirt can be worn with the striped blouse, ballet flats and cream Kate Spade purse. Also, load up your carry on with accessories. It makes all the difference and can change an outfit from casual to haute with the change of a pair of earrings or a necklace.

Glam & Sand

Layers are the greatest way to change an outfit and to stay warm. Most beach destinations are cooler at night. Pack a light cardigan or two to wear over jeans, slacks, or wear one belted over a maxi dress. Your maxi dress can also act as your beach cover up during the day and an evening dress at night. Change the accessories and shoes and your cover up is now your evening dinner dress. A shrug over a simple tank, paired with jeans, dangling earrings, an arm full of sparkly bangles, with a pair of beautiful wedges is the perfect outfit for a night of casual fun and dancing!

For fun add pieces, like the ones below ,that can always be used to add a little “Rock Star” fun to your vacation wardrobe no matter the destination. Also, all the pieces that you see are from Polyvore. That doesn’t mean you have to buy them there {unless you can} some are quite high in price. All the pieces can be purchased for a lot less and some of you may have a few of these staples in your own closet. Use this as a guide. Happy travels…oh and shopping, too!
